What are wax melts?
Wax melts are scented pieces of wax, without a wick, that are melted to release fragrance. Wax melts are placed in a warmer and are gradually warmed to melt the wax and fill your home with a beautiful aroma. Unlike candles, wax melts do not evaporate; only the scent dissipates. Once you can no longer smell the fragrance, you can throw away your used wax and start a new scent.
How often should I change my wax melts?
Wax melts should be changed once the scent has dissipated. Alternatively, if you want a change of scent but your wax melts still retain fragrance, you can use our convenient wax warmer cups to swap between aromas.
What wax melter should I use?
Our wax clamshells will work in all types of burners - both tealight and electric***.
The hotter your wax warmer gets, the more intense the scent throw will be, but it will have a corresponding shorter time for scent release. Similarly, if you have a wax warmer that is colder in terms of warming temperature, it will release a milder scent throw, but the scent will last for a longer period. For maximum scent throw we recommend tea light burners.
***Please note: electric warmers need to be electric hot plate warmers 20w or higher to be able to melt our wax melts.
What is hot scent throw?
Hot throw is a term used to describe how strong the fragrance is and how quickly the scent travels. Good quality wax melts will fill the room with a strong aroma within 10 minutes of melting.
How does the shimmer in our wax melts work?
The glitter we use in our wax melts is called MICA. Mica is heavier than wax - so when the wax is melting, the heat will keep the mica at the top, but eventually it will sink to the bottom. Plastic glitter will remain afloat - but we don't use it, because we love the ocean & the creatures that inhabit it! If you swirl a cotton bud or paddle pop stick through the product, the mica will rise and dance again.
How do I remove wax melts from my warmer?
The easiest way is to use a few cotton balls to soak up the melted wax, and wipe the wax warmer bowl with a fresh cotton ball.
